How-To Create Flower Essence

The Essentials of Flowers 🌸

Flower Essence works subtly, but on a profound level to bring balance and harmony to your mind, body, heart. A dosage under the tongue or added to a small glass of water, clears old energy and emotions that might be hindering your health, mind and well being.

WHAT IS FLOWER ESSENCE?

Derived from a sun soak of fresh flowers in water (like you would a made-to-drink sun tea), flower essence has been used for decades since the modality was invented around 1930 by Dr. Edward Bach as a plant medicine for supporting well being and emotional balance. Nature provides not only such beauty in transformation, but also healing through a delicate and simple process.

STEPS TO MAKE FLOWER ESSENCE WATER

I love making flower essences, usually on a sunny Saturday or Sunday morning. After I am done, I have something to remind myself of the time I immersed my senses by being with nature. It’s a personalized take-away that I can carry forward into the days ahead. I encourage you to experiment with your own creativity.

Step 1 : Gather and prime

To create a flower essence, plan for a clear, sunny morning and aim to gather flowers when there is still dew on the ground if possible. Approach this process with a freedom to explore and connect to nature and your creativity. Take a moment to tune in to your body and ensure that you are energetically in the right place to put your intentions into the flower essence making process. Take a walk and allow your senses to lead you to a blossoming connection. Gather flowers that are local and organically grown.

Step 2 : Attune to harmonize

After you have picked the flowers, gently place each flower to float in a bowl of water. The petals of the flower hold an energy, and enhances this natural remedy. Be sure to use spring or tap water (not distilled water) and a clear glass or crystal bowl for this solar infusion. Allow the flowers to soak in the water by leaving it outdoors in bright sunlight for 3-4 hours. The sun’s light and heat activate the beneficial properties of the plant and releases the medicinal properties into the water.

Types of flowers commonly found and benefits:

Daisy β€” Focus

Cosmos β€” Confidence and Clarity

Buttercup β€” Trust & Open-mindedness

Jasmine β€” Purification & Self-Acceptance

Lavender β€” Emotional Equilibrium

Step 3 : Integrate and align

After steeping the flowers, skim them off the water and pour the remaining water into a clean, dark glass bottle with an equal amount of brandy. This creates a mixture that is half flower essence water and half brandy. The brandy serves as a preservative and anchor to hold the subtle essence in the water.

In addition to filling the bottle, create a label and note the flower, date, location and anything you would like to include. Store in the cool dry place.
